The Latina/o Studies graduate minor is an interdisciplinary doctoral minor that is administered by the Latina/o Studies Initiative committee and housed in three departments: English, Comparative Literature, and Spanish. The minor will be available to all students admitted to Ph.D.-granting graduate programs. Students must submit to the Latina/o Studies Initiative committee a brief plan of study, describing their interests and listing intended courses. The minor for each student will be planned jointly by the student, the student’s doctoral adviser, and an adviser designated by the Latina/o Studies Initiative committee.

A minimum of 15 credits must be completed. Per graduate school regulations for the minor, a representative of the minor will participate on the student’s doctoral committee. This representative may be a member of the Latina/o Studies Initiative committee or any other faculty member approved by that committee. The fifteen hours will be drawn from a list composed and kept current by the initiative.
